The purpose of this list is to inspire you to come up with your action plan to fight boredom and go have more fun. This list is specifically for families and adult/kid activities for summer. Some of these activities cost next to nothing and some will set you back a few dollars. If you want To really maximize your fun - try to do multiple fun activities in a single setting. Try to pick activities that all your participants can enjoy.
Family Fun things to do When Bored in Summer
Play a Board Game Outdoors - Pick a spot that makes you go wow!
Olympics - Set up a series of events or obstacles courses. Only limited by your ability and imagination. Take it the extra step and arrange some medals for the awards ceremony. Invite friends, family and neighbors for the event
Have a Wheelbarrow Race
Bounce on a Trampoline - try to sing a song while you are jumping
Play catch with a nerf ball
Blueberries up Your Nose - Ok this one does sound weird but it is still pretty fun and totally not recommended. This is a contest where you stick a blueberry up your nose and try to blast it the farthest. Yes the "roll" of the berry counts when measuring distance
Play Some Boccie Ball in the backyard
Build a fort of some kind
On a cool night have a bonfire and roast marshmallows
Deck Lounging - get plenty of treats that are within reach and laze away on the deck. Make refreshing fruit drinks in the blender. Yes use the little umbrellas in the drinks.
Piggy Back Rides races around the yard
Do a Favor for a Neighbor that will make their day and yours too. Maybe there is someone who needs help on your block?
Go surprise a friend that you haven’t seen in a long time. Take baked goods and treats
Do you have a lot of flowers in your garden? Cut some and deliver them to whomever you think would appreciate them.
Get Some Glow in the Dark Toys
Make a Movie about your summer

Hang a Bird Feeder and learn about what birds that come to visit
Start a Herb Garden
Find a place to Wade for Minnows
Watch a movie outdoors in the back yard - invite some friends
Have a Water Fight with the Garden Hose
Run Though the Sprinkler
Check the fitness list if you need some exercise
Get a slip and slide
Go Fly A Kite at the park
Get up early and find a fantastic place to watch the sunrise
Have a sunset picnic
Go to the park to play on the swing, slide or whatever they got
Plant a Time Capsule in the back yard
Have a Play - Act out a play with costumes and make up
Have a Talent Show with the neighborhood kids
Do some cloud evaluation - Look for shapes in the clouds
Buy a big juicy watermelon and have a seed spitting contest
Make a Root Beer Float well not just a root beer float but the best root beer float in history
Have a Lemonade Stand and make some extra money
Camp out in the Backyard - try to stay away form the house for as long as possible
Have a Christmas party in July
Draw with chalk on the sidewalk. Another fun thing to do is to go somebody's house and write compliments with chalk all over their driveway or sidewalk.
Have an Egg Toss - wear old clothes so they don't get to eggy. If you make a mess make sure you wash it down with the house. Hot Sun + Egg = Big Mess
When it is really hot out have a water gun or water balloon fight
Feed the Ducks at the Park
Give to Others - Give Take your old clothes or any other extra stuff to people that could really use it.
Skip Stones at the lake
Go for a road trip
